Trailhead checklist

Before you head out

  1. Seasonal leash rules

    From March through July, keep dogs leashed to protect breeding wildlife and ground-nesting birds. Posted local regulations always take precedence.

  2. Canine essentials

    Fresh water with a collapsible bowl, biodegradable waste bags, a tick remover and a towel for stream crossings.

  3. Warm-weather hiking

    Set out early and choose shaded forest routes. Exposed rock and asphalt hold heat and can burn sensitive paw pads.
